Tomokazu Matsuyama, Bowery Mural: 76 E Houston St. | NYC
The launch of the Houston Bowery Wall program in New York City was a fruitful renaissance for one of the highest regarded mural walls in the United States. Keith Haring made the wall famous by painting an original mural as a gift to the community in the late 1970s. With ownership of the wall, the Goldman family felt a sense of responsibility to bring art and beauty to the public on a grand scale. Through this initiative, the Houston Bowery Wall invites established and emerging street artists from the United States and around the world who have a powerful message of inspiration, possibility, and hope.
The latest artist to grace the Bowery Mural on Houston is Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama “Matzu” who started working on the mural last week and is close to wrapping up. Matzu was born in Japan but moved to New York City in 2000 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
