Gerald Williams: Here’s What Sold—and for How Much—at Art Basel Miami Beach 2022

ArtNet News, December 5, 2022

Here's what dealers say they sold at the 20th edition of the fair.

December in many parts of the world means the official kick off to the yuletide season, when it’s finally acceptable to turn on Mariah Carey and trim the tree. In the art world, of course, December means only one thing: it’s time for Miami Art Week.

This year, the marquee Art Basel fair in Miami celebrated its—count ’em—20th edition. It was an impressive milestone for the fair, which in its infancy attracted just a fraction of the well-heeled art collectors, and very few (if any) of the celebrities, that now consider Art Week a highlight of the social calendar.

Below, as always, is our roundup of reported sales at the fair, converted to USD for ease of reading. And, as always, it’s worth keeping in mind that only galleries who choose to share figures are included in this list, so it’s disproportionately skewed toward those who sold the most stuff.
