Sculpture and installation have always been vital components of Kavi Gupta’s program and the practices of many of the artists we represent. Sidebar—a newly designated space for sculpture within our Elizabeth Street gallery—offers viewers an intimate engagement with a rotating selection of singular, three-dimensional pieces by contemporary artists whose work is on the vanguard of aesthetic, material, and social concerns.
These works also nod to a facet of the gallery’s program that reaches beyond its walls—large-scale public art. From pieces commissioned for international art biennials to permanent installations in venerable museums, these works directly engage with the public and take on new contexts within the spaces they occupy.
The inaugural Kavi Gupta | Sidebar presentation features works by Willie Cole, Richard Hunt, Manish Nai, Jessica Stockholder, and Kennedy Yanko.
