Mary Sibande is a South African artist living and working in Johannesburg. Her work is occupied with prevalent societal issues in South Africa including race, identity, gender, Apartheid and labour.
In 2019 Sibande held a landmark solo show at Somerset House, London I Came Apart at the Seams, along with a solo show at Leroy Neiman Gallery. After such a successful 2019, we are expecting even bigger things in 2020, with group shows already announced at Moody Centre for the Arts, USA; Kent State University, USA; and at the Lahore Biennale, Pakistan.
