Art Basel Qatar: with Narimon Safavi and Kavi Gupta

Narimon Safavi, the curator and cultural advisor with deep ties to contemporary art practices across the MENASA region, has joined Kavi Gupta as our regional advisor in Doha for Art Basel, and as an advisor to the gallery's forthcoming MENASA+ focused exhibition.

Safavi’s deep engagement with the region across artists, institutions, and emerging dialogues has already been an invaluable resource, and we’re excited to be working closely with him as this project develops.

Narimon Safavi, is a Chicago-based Iranian-American entrepreneur and a commentator-analyst for the radio program “Worldview” on WBEZ (Chicago Public Media; NPR). Safavi co-founded Pasfarda Art and Cultural Exchange, which builds cultural bridges and fosters dialogue between U.S. & Iran. His current project, Zaryab Art Labs, will incubate cultural entrepreneurship and institution-building with a focus on contemporary arts to create closer global linkages (launching in 2026). Safavi also serves National Iranian-American Council (NIAC) ambassador, and works closely with the Human Rights Watch-Chicago Committee. Past service on numerous boards and councils includes the Gene Siskel Film Center, Latino Cultural Center of Chicago, University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy, and the DC-based Citizens for Global Solutions.
