Gibson stitched together fabric scraps by hand to form the foundation of the quilts, embedding references to songs, poetry, philosophy and events such as the Standing Rock Protests. Gibson then collaborated with Robert Bemis, a quilt artist based in Troy, New York, inviting him to free form "draw" on the quilts with stitching.
