This early work epitomizes the figurative style Clare Rojas was known for when she was closely associated with the Mission School in San Francisco. Along with her husband Barry McGee, Clare Rojas is one of the pioneers of the Mission School. Influenced by a mixture of low-brow, folk, graffiti, murals, skateboarding and comic art, Mission School artists rose to prominence in the late 1990s—early 2000s. Several members of the movement were featured in the 2008 documentary film Beautiful Losers.
