The piece was inspired by Warhol's portraits of Merce Cunningham, who like Streb was at the forefront of modern dance and frequently collaborated across mediums with artists of all kinds. Produced collaboratively with Streb herself, the piece also operates through a different model of representation, where the subject is directly involved with their image making process. While the form is appropriated from Warhol, the imagery was generated by Kass in direct collaboration with Streb, allowing for more accurate emulation of Warhol's imagery.
