Like all of the works in this series, this sculpture utilizes a rectangular steel frame as a support for a naturalistic, abstract composition in welded steel. The lyrical elements of the sculpture jut forward out of the frame like a three-dimensional drawing in space. Utilizing a steel infrastructure as a support for a biomorphic abstract composition, this series embodies Hunt’s inclination to marry elements of the natural world with elements of the built world. Simultaneously, this series of works represents a radical departure for Hunt, as it takes him into a realm of experimentation that creates completely surprising moments of innovation and strangeness. This series, and each of the works that belong to it, are completely distinctive within Hunt’s oeuvre.Provenance
