This work is part of an ongoing series of sculptures Angel Otero initiated in 2012, in which he develops what he calls "a series of new material explorations” involving ceramics and steel. Using these materials and the processes of kiln drying and painting as starting points for an examination of his psyche and memories, Otero create objects and compositions in space that evoke a sense of both delicacy and protection.
The process of making these sculptures necessitates both creation and destruction, metaphorical acts that relate to the process of constructing memories. Materially, the works express the essential physical qualities of both the ceramic and the steel.
