Tasset's iconic Snowman series captures with absolute honestly the beautiful melancholy of Midwestern winter. Tasset's snowmen have a noble ugliness to them, lumpy and flecked with twigs and grass, always slightly misshapen as if by the hands of a child. That wabi-sabi kind of "beautiful imperfection" is essential to their series, though- Tasset is not producing the icon of a snowman, but a sincere recreation of a real snowman as it might exist in the real world. Each snowman is unique, lovingly rendered with exacting detail, each piece of debris, facial feature, and accessories placed carefully by Tasset such that they all have their own specific character.
