In 2012, Angel Otero began developing what he called "a series of new material explorations” involving ceramics and steel. Using these materials, and the processes of kiln drying and painting, as starting points for an examination of his psyche and memories, Otero created a new body of sculptures that evoke a sense of both delicacy and protection. The process of making these sculptures necessitates both creation and destruction, bringing out the essential material qualities of both the ceramic and the steel.
