In the painting Listen and Behold. A Story/telling, we see a central figure with three heads, flanked by two seed figures becoming enwrapped in the tale the central figure is weaving. Materials such as glitter, mica, metal foil and plastic reflect light and create sparkle, bringing the viewer into a living space of energy and refuge. The image relates to a sense of astrological time.
“I’m imagining these figures in parallel timelines,” says Sikelianos-Carter. “I’m stretching time in a way that doesn’t just go forward. If you had a telescope long enough, from far enough away you could look through it and see Egyptians building pyramids right now. All time is happening at every moment.”
